Self-made ensemble

Cutout shoulder blouse - self-made; Floral skirt - self-made; Vintage belt; Steve Madden Wedges

The blouse idea came to me several months ago when I started to cut and sew pieces of this great gold-flecked stretch cotton fabric; however, nothing went right with it -- it wouldn't hang correctly, and I kept sewing crookedly. Frustrated, I threw it into my closet, disregarding it as an unfinished project. An entire afternoon of sewing yesterday yielded these results: I revisited the cut pieces and finally finished it, turning it into a cropped blouse. The floral skirt took me about an hour and a half to sew. I found the fabric at a local warehouse sale at a deeply discounted price. Score!

(500) Days of Style?

White scrunched socks with little blue flowers

Grey Ant sunglasses courtesy of my boyfriend, Kash (mytenderoni.blogspot.com)

Faux fur, necklace, lace-up heels - Forever 21; Racerback tank - depths of my closet; Tap shorts - Macy's

I threw this outfit together in a flash, pulling old and new pieces from my closet. Making its debut today was the tap shorts I found for $8 at Macy's. I dressed up a few basic pieces with a fur vest and silver accessories. As lovely as these heels may appear, they are hardly easy on the feet, offering little support and no cushioning. Very uncomfortable indeed; however, the socks provided marginal comfort. Throughout the course of our little shoot, I kept alternating between fur on and fur off, hair up and hair down. After all, it is summer, and the heat is unforgiving. All photos were taken by Kash.

A special thank you to ELLE.es for including me in their "Around the world in 60 blogs" feature! I'm thrilled to be representing Hawaii and standing amongst my lovely fellow bloggers. View it HERE!

bargain ensemble

As the title implies, this entire outfit was relatively inexpensive. The lace was a mere $5 and the Levi's 501 denim cutoffs were a steal at $5 as well.

Lace: Macy's; Levi's 501 denim; Purse: Kathy VanZeeland; Belt: THELOOK Hawaii; Rings: F21 & THELOOK; Boots: Target

I wore this to traipse around town with the boyfriend and eat delicious sushi. Later, I'm off to a fabric sale -- inspiration has struck and I'm determined to create some summer skirts. Stay tuned.

Lastly, please enjoy the platter of California sushi -- Kash and I most certainly did.

oh, reckless abandon

The dress is from THELOOK Hawaii. With its ruffle back, unusual heather-pink color and the elastic waist, it's easily one of the best summer pieces in my closet. I found the quilted purse at a thrift store for a mere $2. The (well-worn) boots are from Urban Outfitters.
We took a random trip to the zoo where thankfully, admission is still free. All of the above photos by Kash.

Pow Wow

Fear not, I was wearing shorts -- denim cutoffs to be precise. This unbelievably warm day called for a simple, breezy outfit. I wore my Chanel sunglasses with a Silence + Noise tiered blouse and Dolce Vita sandals. I finished the look with a few silver rings and a heart locket necklace.
